Snakes...I never feel comfortable to see them but yet, I'm fascinating watching them behind the glass caged when I see them in the zoo or other places like that. I don't know why.
Yikes! Snakes give me the creeps! We have some around here but rarely see them. The gopher snake, rubber boa (weird name) and bull snake. These look fierce but don't bite. We like on a mountain so we can expect them to be here too. We have a lot of owls, hawks and eagles and they all eat snakes so that keeps them well fed, and the snake population in balance. Five years ago we had family of Great Horned Owls nest in our pine tree. I noticed them when the 2 babies were about 7 inches tall. They were silver and all fluffy with a black mask. We were able to watch them grow until they fledged. I was gardening one day and when I stood up to stretch, I saw them on a low branch right above me! They were out of the nest for the first time. I got my camera and took a video, it's on You Tube. Just search for Barbs Owls on You Tube. I should have used a tripod, it's pretty jerky, but they're cute! Barbara
Hi Jen. I hate snakes as you know. I think that's because my brothers used to throw them at me when I was little and my mother would scream if she saw one. So I learned early not to like them. But as Barbara days, they are mostly harmless and provide food for the beautiful BirdLife. I live your painting. I will check out your video Barb. Dad
