I think it is important to spend time with your family because you get to do things you wouldn't normally do. My family doesn't spend enough time together. We do a dinner three or four times a year.
I completely agree Jen, spending time with family is very important. I am in the same situation as you, I dont see my family often, but I make the most of the time I do spend with them. You should try sending them an email or message whenever you miss them, its a always nice to be reminded.
It has been many years ago since I had dinner with my family. I have a funny memory from my childhood, I think I was about 4 or 5 years old at the time. My dad came from with a lot of clams, which I have no idea where he got them. We had clam dinner while sitting on floor, which another Indonesian habit, with my siblings while I was sitting right in the middle enjoying the feast. Before I know it, I was covered with the sauce of the food and experienced itch like I never had before. Then I started crying out of control! My dad took me to our big outside bath tub. He bathed me clean while I was still crying...what a brat! Now, thinking of it...oh boy I miss my parents. RIP
