turtle garden of wonder

smell the flowers in bloom. Smell the yellow tulips. See the turtle going along. Feel the warm summer's day.

  1. The scent of tuberose is very strong, stronger than most regular English roses, gardenia or even jasmine, Jen. Smell and sound are two things can bring us to the past memory. I bought some tuberose from SaveOn Food a few months and when I smelled them it brought tears to eyes! I remember my childhood played with friends bare feet roaming the neighbor freely! Speaking of turtle, I think someone I know used to have a turtle as a pet too. Looking forward another year with more adventure questions and art work, Jen! Have a wonderful New Years, Jen. A brighter and joyous 2019 for all of us :)

  2. A lovely depiction of a garden Jen. I see the turtle among the blooms. Turtles are quiet animals. There are wild painted turtles near here. They live in a pond and sometimes have to cross a road, so the city has put up caution signs for drivers. I've never understood why they're called painted turtles, they're not colourful.
I agree with Rita, smell and sound will bring back memories. I remember one day many years ago my husband and I were walking along a street in the city and he stopped suddenly. We were just passing a very big blooming lilac bush. He sniffed the air and said the lilac fragrance instantly took him right back to grade 3. There had been lilacs blooming in spring around his school. He remembered a particular group of friends and what they did that day. Best wishes for a very New Year to everyone!

  3. I can feel it Jen!  The summer's day and the flowers in bloom!  It seems so far away at this time of year.  I love the garden as you know.  We have a few frogs but no turtles.  The garden smells bring back memories of my mother's beautiful garden in Victoria.  Of course I like cutting the grass best.  I love the smell of fresh cut grass and the look of the lawn after it is cut.  Even the smell of the compost is so memorable.  Have a great day Jen and a Happy New Year to all!  Love, Dad

  5. I see the turtle swimming through water with the reflection of a beautiful garden on the water. I find memories are stronger when you use all of your senses.

  6. This painting makes me think of what our brains look like when we take in magnificent smells. Love the way everyone can see and feel something different in every painting you do.
