Have you ever had your hopes crushed?

I ordered a a China doll on Amazon and it came crushed. I was very disappointed. Have you ever had your hopes crushed?

  1. Many times Jen, too many to remember or count. When I was a kid I really, really, really wanted a 3 speed bike and only got a single speed for Christmas. Nowadays my hopes are limited so they don't get crushed a much. Right now I am in a Bangkok hotel waiting for my second PCR test before hopefully going to Chiang Mai for the balance of the month to be with Waan's family whom we haven't seen for 2 years. I hope I don't get my hopes crushed!! Best to you, Uncle Nicky

  2. Oh yes, many times my hopes got crushed, Jenny. I think it is part of life and we don't always get what we want or hopes for. Some I have no problem to get over them and some not so easy. I also grateful for something that I didn't get what I was hoping for because it wouldn't make me happy for a long run.

  3. Having our hearts crushed is an ominous thing when you translate it literally. So for the most part, it's an exaggeration. But to the person experiencing it, it may be significant at the moment. To Nick's Comments, I think we've all had our hearts 'crushed' on many occasions because we naturally have high hopes and somethings things don't work out the way we want. To be hopeful puts us at risk of disappointment and I think we need hope to survive and thrive!

  4. of course i have jen. life is a cycle of ups and downs, but we remember the times we get crushed. we can learn from it too. could it have been preventable? maybe you should get the doll from a real store in stead of ordering delivery from amazon next time? then you would know for sure that the product you are buying is in perfect condition when you buy it.
