I love the library, Jen. But I haven't been there recently. I find a lot of the information I used to get from the library is now available online. Dad
As you know I love the library and use it always. Books and ebooks. The ebooks got me through COVID! So important to have a way of getting your mind off of the stresses of life. I love books. Currently I am not watching anything just reading. It is so relaxing.
Hi Jen I love the library… wandering up and down the stacks, pursuing the librarians’ choices, finding a place to sit and feeling the quiet, observing what people are reading, opening books whose topics that I wouldn’t know anything about…. All ingredients of making the world a whole lot bigger… My day feels more spacious now. Thanks for the question. Wishing you an inspiring day. Love Cousin Tess
I also really like going to the library too, Jen. Whenever I was a student, I did my homework there or just reading or writing. I love the peacefulness around books and quiet people at the library. When I was a very poor student living in Victoria, I would walking to library about 1 hour walking distance for a few times a weeks to study and read or even have a relaxing time. I haven't visited a library in Palm Springs yet, as I'm so busy with house renovation etc. I hope to visit one very soon.
We are a family of voracious readers. Back home in Nairobi, Kenya we had built a library room which accommodated more than 5000 books. We instilled books over toys to our children. When I was young in my hometown Mombasa, Kenya my grandfather would pick me up every sat and take me to the library to choose books. One of the most memorable moments I have is of the “floating library”. This was hosted by the British Navy whose aim was to expose Kenyans to the culture of reading. It was always the most exhilarating of moments to get onto a small boat and row out to the sea to where the ship was docked. I later settled in Nairobi, Kenya where I used to go into the city to pick up books from an impressive building called the Macmillan Library(built during the colonial times and has a interesting history) which had 2 majestic lions made of stone outside. Nowadays not many people read physical books as even my children only use kindles. At Sunshine Coast in Gibson where my daughter lives, they have “mini libraries” outside some of their homes so one can take a book or leave one and the best part is there is always a bench nearby so you even get a chance to browse through it which I think is such a cool idea!
