Her name was Marie but her real name was Jennifer. I wanted to be called two names that I remember. I wanted to be named Maria and Rose. I thought they were beautiful names. But now I like Jennifer. I also wanted to change my hair color to blond to match my best friend hair color. I think we all want to change ourselves at one point. If you could change anything about yourself what would it be?
Oh yes. I used to wish my hair was curly and had my friend did a perm on me and I ended up having unruly afro hair style for a few months! I also wish I was taller with lighter skin color and all kind of stupid idea what beauty should look like. Now, I wish I could tell my younger self to enjoy the ride, just enjoy it. Yes the journey could be a bumpy one once in a while but just have to patience to embrace it. And on the other hand, I have a question for you, Jen. Could you to picture yourself for one day to live as something else other than being a regular human being. How and what you think of us, humans from an animal, bird, an insect or even as a tree's point of view? I hope it is not such of scary task do for you, Jen.
ReplyDeleteTo change one thing could mean that everthing else changes too. So I dont wish too much for that but I suppose its my white hair. I went gray much earlier than I would have wanted. But people say it suits me so. Better tha being bald for sure!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, so many of your comments and questions capture my imagination and this one does too so I have to comment! Yes, there is something I would change. When I was 13 I was stricken with acute nephritis which is a kidney disease. I could go into the flukey details as to how this disease was contacted but it is immaterial to the story. Anyway, as a result I was bedridden in hospital 3 months (113 days to be exact because I still have the tiny little medicine cups tied together on a string!)and then bedridden at home for another 3 months with absolutely no activity. As a result, during a formative time of my life when I should have been growing like a weed, I was robbed of 1 or 2 inches in height. If I could change anything it would be that but I have long since learned how to deal with it. Best, U. Nick
ReplyDeleteYou should see my high school pictures. Every year I have a different hairstyle and colour. I've always liked change and have usually felt quite free to make any changes that are within my control. Change is one of my favourite things about being human. The desire to change something about myself wakes me up so that I enjoy life just a little bit more.
