I have three best friends in my lifetime. First, there was Tracy. I met her at church in Sunday school. Second, there was Raquel. I met her in church also. She was my small group leader when I went to youth group. Third, there was Gio. I met him at church in young adults. He is a good singer. I would say all my best friends understood me even when I didn't say anything. Did you ever have a best friend?
My best friend is Ria, my first Indonesian friend in Canada whom I met about 25 years ago. I also have three great friends whom I have known for more than twenty years. We are very lucky when we have good friends in our lives as they worth more than money and gold. we can also have our family members as friends too, Jen.
ReplyDeleteBest friends are a great blessing Jen. Glad you have 3 best friends, and I'm sure, many more friends besides.bs I've had a few best friends in my life. Linda and Betty through school, Heather in high school. Gwennyth and Jan from my 30's til now. My current best friend is Christine. All remain very good friends. Best friends seem to be related to where I'm living and as we move, I find a new best friend, like Christine is now. It's good to be able to share thoughts and ideas with a best friend. Someone you're so comfortable with you can call up any time and get together.

When i was very young i had a best friend called Elija. We always played in the backyard. I don't know what happened to Elija, i think he moved away when i was young. I would like to know where he is now. I have had a few other best friends as well. Having a best friend is probably the best thing in the world. Sure, family is wonderful and loving and supporting, but sometimes a best friend is the "best" person to be with and talk through things that you can't otherwise discuss with your family. I'm glad you have some best friends, Jen. Eddie
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to have had so many good friends Jen. my father used to say that if you could count all your friends on one hand you were doing well. My best friends are my brothers and people like Owen. My favorite saying as you know is "a friend in need is a friend indeed"! What this means is that the best friends are the ones that need you the most, as opposed to people you may want to be friends with but aren't particularly interested in being friends with you. This is a great topic Jan and I will be interested to read all the comments you get. Love, Dad
ReplyDeleteGreat question Jenn. I am sometimes envious of people that still have the same best friend since childhood and get to see them often. But I am comfortable that as I grow and change, so do my friends. Your Dad is one of my best and my brother Leonard. Of course my wife Donna is too. We can have more that one best friend. My oldest best friend Ralph lives in England. We have been friends since elementary school. I last saw him a few years ago but we are good friends on Facebook. I wish we lived closer.
ReplyDeleteI think of all the good times you and Tracy had. We grow and our lives change but those friendships are forever. I think at times we struggle thinking we are supposed to have a room full of friends. Then we get a bit older are realize we have lots of friends that come and go and we never get really close but we still like to see them. Then there is that very short list of the people who are close to our hearts that are just that extra bit special. They make us smile when we think of them and sad when we miss them. What I find cool is that I run into friends from years ago that I haven't see forever and we start acting like we have never been apart. But my best friend is Roger.
