This looks like a shooting Star to me Jen. Stars are the ultimate mystery because no one knows where they came from. Did you know that starts are moving further and further apart all the time? It's hard to fathom the size of the universe or the distance stars are away. Dad
I've always loved laying on my back somewhere outside of the city in August looking for shooting stars. They are sooo fast! I have never looked in to one of those huge telescopes to see a star up close. That would be cool.
Owen, your comment reminds me that I used to do that when I was about 10. I'd put a sleeping bag on the lawn close to front door, and sleep out all night so I could see the shooting stars in August. It was so hot in the house that the lawn was the best place to sleep in August. I can't believe I was allowed to do that by myself but life was simpler then, safer. We lived in Naramata, a sleepy little village of 800 people on Okanagan lake. I did that for many years. We never saw bears or coyotes down in our neighbourhood. They would have been us in the orchards and hills. It was a beautiful time. Barbara
I like the soft colors you used to paint this beautiful star, Jen. My friend and I went for a night walk one Vancouver Island many years ago and experienced something out of ordinary; the sky turn white bright white for about three seconds! It was the most beautiful thing I ever saw in my life! It was so bright, like looking at 1000's watts light bulb right on front of my eyes.
Barbara, I'm so jealous at you because you are living my dream life; your current life and also your childhood's too!

ReplyDeleteThis comet is gorgeous Jen! It's like layers of pastel netting blowing in the breeze.

Rita, I do tend to remember my childhood in the rosiest of lights! Ha ha. I'm sure it wasn't perfect but I just remember it that way.
