Beautifully put Jen. Your flowers make me smile. The one on the left reminds me of Grover, the cookie monster, wasn't he a Sesame Street character? He looks very happy and the one on the right is waving 'hello'! My flowers are getting really big. We've had a lot of heat and twice in June we had a lot of rain. The perfect conditions for tall, happy flowers. Several years ago I bought a $2 packet of Shasta Daisy seeds. They're a tall variety (3 1/2 feet), with 4 inch white blooms. I put the seeds around the edge of my veggie beds. They grew really well so I transplanted some in various places around the property. Now they're in large clumps and add white dazzle to many spaces. They come back up every year. I also planted some Cranesbill Perennial Geraniums. They've done the same thing. They create a 3 foot soft bush covered with large bright blue flowers, each one about 2 1/2 inches across. They both come back every year and bloom until freeze up. So pretty! I hope your flowrr planter is doing well. Barbara
Your flowers do look soft and sparkly, Jen. I always love flowers and every year I add more to my favorite flowers! I still love roses, carnations (especially the wild ones), tuber rose, gladiolas, Indian Jasmine, oleander, plumeria (kamboja) and of course many kind of orchids! I hope someday I will have a beautiful garden to grow a lot of flowers.
Jen's flower planter is doing okay Barbara. But I don't think we have as green thumb as you do. Most of the plants in our garden are perennials that need to be divided, shrubs that need to be prunned, hedges that need to be trimmed and grass that needs to be cut. So our gardener really has very little time for flowers. Perhaps we should get a new gardener but the one we have has been with us for so long. Also we don't have the hot weather you have in the interior. Lots of excuses I know. Rita, not having a garden means you are free to visit and enjoy other gardens. I hope your flowers keep drinking up the sun for long time Jen! Dad
Rita, fortunately for us all, summertime brings flowers - everywhere! We used to walk through Stanley Park to see the rose gardens. Public plantings and hanging baskets line city streets brightening everyone's day. Funnily enough, one of my favourite gardens here is at the White Spot Restaurant. It's always perfectly done and they change it for every season. They've received some awards for it too. I wish you will one day have your own flower garden. I'm sending colourful flowery thought your way!☺ Barbara
