I do too Jen. We're so lucky to have 4 spectacular seasons in Canada. At the end of August I'm always ready for fall and looking forward to autumn weather. So many things about the Okanagan at the beginning of September remind me of my happy school days in Naramata. As a child, I couldn't wait to get back to school. Many things take me back to that time. Red apples, leaves beginning to turn gold, the smell of burning leaves, crisp mornings, grapes ripe and ready to eat - we had one green vine and 1 purple vine of table grapes. Our pumpkins were beginning to grow bigger, on the vine and as kids we always anticipated the fun of Halloween. We had a 3 room school for seven grades, with long 'cloak rooms' in each where we hung our coats and left our boots. The wooden desks were on long tracks, like a train. We learned to print with a pencil and eventually graduated to a pen. I remember pens with an ink cartridge inside that we refilled from a bottle of ink. Life was simpler for people of all ages in those days I think. I think most people feel this way as September approaches, if they have good school memories. It sounds like you did very well in school Jen. Did you look forward to returning to school each year? Barbara
Yes it is pretty. And I am fascinated by how quiet everything is when snow is on the ground. But I prefer notto think about it now as I love summer over winter.
Yes it is beautiful when there is a new snow fall and the sun is shining. I have taken severe pictures of our backyard like this. Later when I have to shovel the drive I don’t like it quite as much!
