I think I was about five years old Jen. I know that because we were on the boat which wasn't launched until 1963. Uncle Nicky taught me to tie my laces. I do them kinda of funny I think because he is left handed. Dad
An interesting question, Jen. I do not remember how old I was when I know how to tied my shoelaces for the first time. But, I still remember my childhood shoes were always black colored and made by hard man-made leather which gave me a lot of blisters! That was why I preferred wearing ugly white rubber shoes, instead. It was a brutal time to remember how often I was running around barefoot because my parents didn't have much money to buy me a decent pair of shoes! I'm so rich now compared to how poor we were then, but as a human, it is so easy for us to forget how lucky we are. Thank you for reminding me to be grateful, not just for the material possession but many other things too. Like having my health, friends, knowledge, experiences and a good job of course!
I think I was about 5 when I learned to tie my shoes in 1957, those were the days!! I also remember my white shiny Sunday 'go to church' shoes, they had buckles. I loved putting on my Sunday dress, hat, white gloves and shiny white shoes. I love the 50's. There's a shop in Kelowna that carries beautiful 50's and 60's style clothes. There's several companies that make a full line of retro clothes. I've seen some around town on young womenm such fun! Barbara
I don’t remember when I learned, but I remember teaching Lucy and Sally. They had trouble though because they wanted their laces to be super tight and they kept breaking them! Thankfully they grew out of that habit!

ReplyDeleteJust a quick question about fashion. What colours do you like to wear?
