What is the taste of home for you?

I think chocolate is the taste of home for me. When I see the green trees of Canada, I know I am home. What is the taste of home for you?

  1. This is a very interesting question, Jen. I think the taste of coconut is like home to me. Growing up in Indonesia, I ate a lot of coconut in the almost every meal or sweet treats. And I still love the taste of coconut in everything to these days. I feel home when I see the Canadian flag 🇨🇦...I like traveling but I like it even better whenever I'm in Canada. Like you, I also love seeing big green trees. On the other my friend Anita and I did a local cycling trip to enjoy the view of our amazing urban forest and beach. We are so luck for living in this amazing part of the world.

  2. The taste of home for me is a cold beer on a hot day, an extra hot cup of black coffee on a cold day, strawberries and ice cream with some maple syrup anytime my waist line can afford it. I, too, am a chocolat fan, damn the torpedos! As for green trees, gotta love them too especially their awesome smells.

  3. Yummmmm, my immediate hunger pang is for the salty sea air…. I can transport myself to the seashore where the tide is on its way out, sandbars beginning to form. As I look west in this early morning visualization I feel the rising sun’s warmth on my back and the early stirrings of the summer’s westerly breath on my face. I feel the gently lapping of the ocean waters around my feet, the sand upon which I stand slowly crumbling away which has me become more rooted into the earth’s floor. Above me and as far as as my eyes can see is the soft robin egg blue of the great forever sky, vistas in the distance of local mountains with their remaining dusting of Winter’s snow. My eye travelling further into the distance, glacier capped peaks melding into the curve of the earth, Bowen island and the great pacific north of the Sunshine coast receding in their hues and shades of navy blues into purples, all in a haze as if a mirage. If I look over my right shoulder, I see the profile of the Cedar and Douglas Fir treetops peeking over the ridge of shrub that lines one of great fresh water rivers, the Fraser River, that gives us our water to drink and salmon to eat. Closing my eyes I hear the whispers of the great ocean that surround three sides of our great country. I also hear the delight and pleasure of being alive as the birds take flight in this morning’s cool air, outsinging one another, call and response with their mates and the wee fledglings that are just learning the great gift of Life. Can you smell the salty air? Feel the salt cling to your skin? Take a deep breath, can you taste the salt in the air, so long ago we came out of the ocean. I still feel the ocean is home for me.

  5. the taste of whitespot, legendary burger with fries and gravy of course. The restaurant is like none other in the world in my opinion, and it was founded in Vancouver.

either that or some nachos that my mum makes at home :)
