I like your beaded curtain Jen. I never wanted to have a beaded curtain though. But maybe we could set one up in your room. You can go through it when you are entering and leaving. Dad
Love your beaded painting! I loved having long hair when I was young as I imagined it to have the same feeling as walking thru a beaded curtain. However, the day I walked thru a beaded curtain, I came to know a whole new sensual experience. I was living in Victoria, studying at UVic, visiting an apartment of new friends I had met on campus. Lots of very funky old homes in Victoria were made into tiny inexpensive apartments for students to rent. I can remember the reaching out to touch the beautifully coloured and multiple shaped beads with the light shining thru some, reflecting off others. Contrasted with the spaces between the stead’s where I could see into the living room with the overstuffed, over sized chairs and sofa. So different from the house I grew up in. As a Taurus, my astrological sign, we are known for our love of the sensual. Touching things. Feeling things… when I walked thru my first beaded curtain I finally understood what “Heaven on Earth“ meant! The smooth and cool beads, the strands parting as I walked thru, the weight of the beads on my shoulders , as I kept walking the beads kept flowing off my shoulders and my back… so much cooler and groovy than my long hair! I knew in that moment I wanted to grow my hair to my knees! Well, I kept walking back and forth in that beaded curtain whenever I went to visit my friends in that funky apartment. And no, I never grew my hair to my knees. Love your idea of your Dad’s to get a beaded curtain for your place. What fun to even google all the many different shapes and colours… ❤️๐งก๐ค๐๐๐๐ค๐งก๐ Wishing you a great day, Jen! Love Cousin Tess ๐ก๐ฃ๐ต๐ข๐ด๐ค๐ต⬛️๐ช๐ง๐จ๐ฅ
First of all, I am struck by how different this piece of art is from anything else of yours I have seen, jen. Where your other paintings have been full of kinetic energy and larger than life colours, this paining is still and spacious with soft, subdued colour. I can really feel the beads of the curtain hanging, as if on a hot day with barely enough breeze to move them. This is such an evocative painting. I really like it a lot. Secondly, I LOVE beaded curtains (though I am sad to say I never have had one.). I love the look and the weight and the feel of a beaded curtain. I love the way the beads move when they are pushed aside- chaotically at first then rhythmically as they bring to move into unison. I love the way the weight of the beads has them gently sway long after the person has pushed past and how they make a soft clacking sound as they slowly come to rest. Pippa
