I would travel to Afghanistan because of a book I read called the Bread Winner. I don't remember much about the book except the main character. Her name was Parvana. I would like to see a Burka. It's a head scarf. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
ReplyDeleteThere are three places I would like to visit. One is Japan with my son who has been wanting to go for ages. It seems fascinating and has the most Michelin Stars 🌟 restaurants in the world! I would also like to travel somewhere one day just to experience the phenomenon of the Northern lights and finally I would love to go back and lounge on the beach of my hometown in Mombasa.
Jen, the book Bread Winner sounds very interesting. In my culture we have a lot of influence from Afghanistan and even some of our recitals and colourful traditional dancing is in Farsi.
The coastal women of Mombasa wear burqas and I happen to have one. I hope to see you next week and will bring it along. Zen
I just read The Kiterunner which is also about Afghanistan. Really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteGosh its more where I want to go first. And because its winter and I want to be warm, I want to go to Polynesia and explore the beaches by boat.
Hi Jen,
ReplyDeleteI have been reading a book about Neanderthal society, a primitive people related to human beings that lived in Europe and Asia about 40,000 years ago but became extinct. There are caves in Spain and in Germany where these people lived. These caves are being painstakingly slowly excavated using tiny paint brushes, if you can believe it, to uncover their bones and tools and the remains of their cooking fires from the 40,000 years of layered dirt that has been covering them so we can learn more about them. While I wouldn’t have the patience to do the archeological work myself, I think it is incredible and fascinating. It would be quite something to have the chance to sit in one of these caves and imagine a community of Neanderthal people living there.
