My parents have taught me to say please and thank you. I used to say it a lot. I stopped saying it because my sisters didn't like me saying it. What manners have your parents taught you?
Hi Jen! My mom taught me to say please and thank you too. Pretty much all the standard manners. I think it's a good idea for parents to prepare their children to be at ease, kind and well mannered in social situations, don't you? Going down life's road can be bumpy at times and good manners make it more pleasant for everyone. Barbara
Yes, my parents taught me the thank you and please as well, Jen. My dad was very quiet but my mom was friendly and I have a little bit of both of their personalities. As I get older I realized how important it is to be kind to others and also have some interest in people's lives as well. Because we all do have interesting stories to share and of course we can learn from each other too.
I had the best mother for manners, Jen. She would constantly correct our behavior and remind is to say please and thank you. We hated it because it was really annoying. And sometimes we would behave badly just to annoy her back. This really bugged her but we enjoyed it. She didn't think we learned anything. But when we grew up we remembered what she said and were able to have good manners when we needed them. Hopefully your sisters will be the same. Why do you think they didn't like you saying please and thank you? Dad
