A quick change from a white snow packed world to a tear shaped dripping green world… My question is “what’s going on in your world?” which, I feel, gives the other person a wide open space from which to choose what they feel like sharing in this particular moment. And what I call “travelling,” We go wherever the conversation between us takes us. Travelling in their world. A good practice in listening. I love hearing whatever it is that others have to say. I hear what they say, and notice what they don’t say. All without judgement. As the conversation goes on I might have insights for opening the conversation into more depth, or travel more lightly in what is being shared. For me, this is being in the present moment. I always ask "What's new?". Which is a lazy question, but it's impossible to answer yes or no and usually elicits an interesting response. Dad
